How to turn your old Furniture into an Antique Chippy Paint lookalike without Sanding.

Hey guys! I hope you are having a happy Monday and had an amazing weekend. This weekend was crazy for us we had so much going on.

I wanted to show you step by step how you can turn a regular stool or really any piece of wood furniture into an old antique looking item without any sanding. It is super easy and there are only a few steps.

I have had this stool forever honestly and thought it was so ugly so I wanted to give it a makeover.

So I started by painting the stool white. I wouldn’t recommend using milk paint for this project. I just used white acrylic paint and it worked perfect.

You will want to paint a couple coats.

Once the white coats were dry I painted a light brown streak on the edges using Brown Sugar.  I painted it where the stool would naturally start paint chipping. It worked best for me to use my finger and smudge it down along the sides.

I didn’t paint the entire edge. I just painted streaks that were about 3 inches long. Each leg had two or three streaks on it.

Once I painted all the leg edges brown, I painted the top of the stool brown.

Once the top of the stool was completely brown I let it dry for a few.

After you have let your stool dry you will want to use White Elmer’s Glue to paint on the top of the stool.

Just make sure it is evenly coated and all painted in the same direction. That part is super important.

After I painted the stool with glue I painted a coat of white paint on top while the glue was still wet.

Once the last coat of paint was covering the entire top I brought my blow dryer and started to blow dry the paint and glue coats. The reason it is important for the glue to be painted all in the same direction is because when you blow dry it, it will start to peel in whatever direction you painted the glue.

You will see it started to peel away the top coat white so you can see the brown layer through. I let the stool dry for a couple hours to make sure it was 100% dry.

I love the way the stool turned out. It looks so pretty! If you want to see how I made these pretty shabby chic books you can see it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by friends. Have a great week!

The EASIEST Rustic DIY Wood Magnets Made From A Ruler.

I have been making wood magnets for a while now. I love how easy they are and are super cute. You will love making these simple rustic magnets. They barely cost anything to make!

Items you will need:

First you will start with your rulers. I cute them into pieces that were 2.5-3 inches long.

Once they were cut into pieces I lightly sanded the sides to smooth the edges. Then stained them with Minwax Dark Walnut.

I stained and painted them with acrylic paint.

I painted them using stencils as well as hand painted designs.

Once the paint was dry I hot glued a strip of magnet on the back of the wood piece.

Here is the finished project you guys!

I absolutely love these Rustic Wood Magnets! They are so much fun and they look adorable on the fridge! I can’t wait to see your DIY Wood Magnets! Don’t forget to tag me on Instagram. @RusticPassion

DIY Photo Board in less than 30 min.

Mothers Day is always a hard day for me. Growing up without my mom and our Infertility makes it a day I usually don’t look forward to. The only thing that I truly enjoy about it is the family time we get and the fact that we celebrate the day for Tysons mom. We love making it a good day for her and all the other mothers in our family.

This year I wanted to make something special and memorable for her. Tyson has such a big family and we are all so close. So I knew my mother in law would love a photo board to display all the people she loves the most.

This was such a fun project and it is very easy for you to do yourself.

First I went and picked up 3 fence boards from Home Depot. I used 2 of them for the front of the photo board.

I cut each board into in 3 pieces, which gave me a total of 6 pieces of wood.

Each piece was 24 inches long.

The 3rd fence slab I cut 2 pieces that were 20 inches long.

I lightly sanded all the pieces of wood. I didn’t want to sand them too much because I wanted it to still have a rustic look.

I put all 6 of the 24 inches wood pieces together and attached them together by using the 20 inch pieces to hold the entire photo board together.

Then I nailed it all together.

Once the photo board was attached together it was ready to stain.

I used Minwax Dark Walnut Stain.

This is my go to and favorite type of stain.

I stained the entire board. It’s a lot easier to use an old rag to stain instead of a paint brush. It makes the stain go on a lot smoother.

Once it was stained I took a paper towel and wiped off any extra stain. I let it dry for a bit.

Then it was ready glue on the twine.

I started on the corners and hot glued the twine diagonal all the way across the entire photo board.

This part is a little time consuming. But it is so worth it to make sure they are perfectly straight.

Once I was done with all my lines I was ready to hot glue twine going the other direction.

Once the entire board has all the twine glued you will want to glue all the corners down to the board. I added pearl embellishments onto the tops of the corners because I liked the way it looked.

Once that was complete it was ready for pictures to go on it!

I gave this gift to Tysons Mom, and she absolutely loved it!

You should make your own photo board to go in your home it’s so easy and fun! I have multiple hanging in my house and love the way they look! It’s the cutest way to display multiple photos.

Well friends thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week.
